Vintage clothing, fashion & jewelry: summer 2023
Before there was Elkader Auction House, our auctioneer, Kyana Taillon, ran a highly rated, upscale vintage and antique clothing shop called Roselein Rarities full-time for over 12 years. With Kyana's new focus on a faster-paced format, this auction features many pieces from her inventory—the lots with detailed descriptions and pictures with live models. Some of the photos do tend to feature additional items not included in the lots, even entire ensembles (Kyana's forté is envisioning, creating, and photographing these multi-item collections that give personality and context to the vintage items), so be sure to read the titles & descriptions for what's included in each lot.
We also have eleven other consignors for this auction who are downsizing their collections, many from original owners. (We have one consignor who is 84 and another turning 90 in July!) Also a large Victorian clothing collection from Minnesota and many items including a massive vintage-hat collection from vintage shop Ferndale in Sumner, Iowa.
This auction features nearly 130 vintage dresses and over 100 vintage hats! A huge collection of beautiful costume jewelry and an amazing Black Hills Gold wedding-ring set. Forty-five vintage and designer purses. Patchwork, retro, mid-century, flapper era, Victorian lace, novelty prints, Barbie-inspired pink collection, 1930s & 1940s rare lingerie, three Gunne Sax dresses, vintage gloves in every color of the rainbow! Many multi-item lots and gorgeous vintage bedspreads and linens including two matching handmade quilts! There are also quite a few larger-sized vintage pieces which are harder to find. Most often the general size will be in the title as a letter size (XS S M L XL XXL) for quick reference.
Inventory from Kyana's shop is being kept in a different location than our usual Elkader warehouse but many of the purses, jewelry and linens will be viewable during our regular in-person preview time Saturday, June 17 from 11-2. Items at the other location will be shown during a live online preview on Instagram Thursday, June 22 at 11 a.m. Central.
This auction will run for three weeks, ending simultaneously with our next antiques auction on July 6! Because of this double-header ending, please be sure to note that pick-up will be Saturday, July 8th, rather than the usual Friday after the auction end. Bidding will be here on ElkaderAuctionHouse.com and takes place online only. You must register and have a credit card on file to bid. All credit cards will be charged immediately after auction close unless the total is over $1,000. A buyer's premium of 10% applies to all purchases. Worldwide shipping is available for all items in this auction.
We pride ourselves on quality items in a condition suitable for collectors, wear & resellers. All items are described to the best of our abilities in a fast-paced environment. If there are flaws, we do our best to show them in pictures and/or point them out in descriptions. A reminder that all sales are final and there are no returns for any reason.
